Everyone hopes to see a lion. We understand. But Kenya has more to offer: in its remote regions, far from the busiest parks, live animals such as Grévy's zebra and the gerenuk. Each has a story to tell, and your guide will help you read it.
The day begins at five, when predators may still be on the move. As the first light reaches the plains, we find a quiet spot away from other vehicles, and if something is worth watching, we stay. Part of the experience is taking time to observe an animal’s behaviour, notice the details that make it distinctive and ask every question that comes to mind.
Evenings bring another kind of energy: a sundowner with the horizon in front of you, a lion calling in the distance, the sharp alarm call of a dik-dik close by. In some conservancies the night is yours too. Wrapped up against the cold, you hear the landscape more clearly than you see it, searching the torchlight for the glint of eyes at a respectful distance while the animals carry on with their night.
If something stirs while you sleep, we can wake you: a lion on the hunt, hyenas gathered nearby. The bush keeps its own hours.
